We celebrate the warmth of Shabbat at the Temple. Services are held each Friday evening, although the time may vary depending on special programming. In addition to different musical options each week, we offer a monthly family Shabbat with special features for children (who are welcome every week under adult supervision). An Oneg Shabbat is held following services each Friday, a wonderful opportunity to share fellowship and a nosh.
In addition to our traditional Friday night service, we also enjoy exploring creative worship opportunities. These include our very popular Friday Night Live and Home Shabbat. |

Friday Night Live, a spirited and popular service combining klezmer, folk, Middle Eastern and Hebrew melodies that everyone can sing, recaptures the spontaneity and delight of Jewish worship. Dance in the aisles or tap your feet discreetly, but plan to be a part of this refreshing worship experience.
Home Shabbat is held annually to allow members to share the Sabbath with new and old friends in their homes. No services are held at the Temple that night, but all over Fort Wayne, tables are set for an evening of spirituality, friendship and wonderful food. We matched more than 150 members as hosts and guests in 14 homes at our third event. We'll again be matching hosts and guests at various > homes for the fifth Home Shabbat on Friday, January 26, 2007.
Other special Sabbath events include our Elder Shabbat. Seniors age 70 and over are invited to be our guests for dinner and a worship services utilizing the old Union prayer book. Everyone is welcome for this delightful evening.
Please join us as we light the candles each Friday and welcome the Sabbath Bride. It’s a time for renewal and reflection, a chance to focus on the spiritual rather than daily concerns.
Shabbat morning services are usually preceded by Torah Study, unless a b’nei mitzvah is scheduled. Saturday morning is a special opportunity to study with the rabbi and delve into the ancient text for new meanings before services begin. Consult the Temple Bulletin for times and dates.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY FRIDAYS
Creating warm and lasting Jewish memories for you and your children through song, stories and special moments is the goal of our monthly Family Shabbat service.
This especially engaging worship experience provides a nice way for families to celebrate the Sabbath together and also encourage your youngsters' religious growth. Rabbi Katz will combine his insights, enthusiasm and sense of humor in highlighting the joy of Judaism.
Our family-friendly Fridays begin at 7:30 p.m. See calendar for schedule.
