Shabbat is celebrated weekly at the Temple, often with special offerings. Please join us throughout the year. Our offerings include:
Friday Night Live, a spirited and popular service combining klezmer, folk, Middle Eastern and Hebrew melodies that everyone can sing, recaptures the spontaneity and delight of Jewish worship. Dance in the aisles or tap your feet discreetly, but plan to be a part of this refreshing worship experience.
Friday Night Jazz, a variation on Friday Night Live, celebrates the joy of Shabbat with jazz music.
Home Shabbat is held annually to allow members to share the Sabbath with new and old friends in their homes. No services are held at the Temple that night, but all over Fort Wayne and nearby communities, tables are set for an evening of spirituality, friendship and wonderful food. Started in 2002, Home Shabbat attracts a large group, usually numbering more than 100 guests matched at host homes.
Other special Sabbath events include GUCIBAT, which brings warm thoughts of summer camp at Goldman Union Camp Institute in Zionsville, Indiana, which many of our students attend. A blast of the shofar and Shabbat walk, the service attracts participants of all ages. A spirited song sessions follows a camp-style service and dinner.
A youth group-led service, Yom Ha'atzmaut in celebration of the State of israel, and Shabbat Shirah are among the opportunities to explore Shabbat and spirituality in new ways. Visit our calendar for specific details.
